Hey guys, exmo here Please don't troll. If you must, make it minimal If you are interested by the end of the post bookmark this page!

Well im posting here because im in need of help. Not help from people who want to troll, but help from people who would like to create a new map that can be used for competitive gaming and hopefully be added to the maps on the CyberGamer rotation.

I have started with a few people to create the most basic map layout using photoshop, just so its sort of a Bird's Eye view of what we want the map to be based on. (Of course this can change during the making of the map).

Here is what the layout looks like for now.

Image

The yellow squares represent houses/shops, while the brown squares represent spawn buildings (even though the team spawns out of the buildings, it's the same concept as spawn buildings on strike, crash, etc).

So what am i looking for?

I need as many people i can get. People with mapping experience, people who are creative, people who can draw, people to test this map, someone to host a server for this map to be tested on, and people who are willing to come into TS and work together to put in time and effort into making a new and different map that will hopefully make the rotation for CG. Even if you just give feedback and suggestions, that would be such a great help as i need ALL the support i can get!

If you are interested please add my xfire: duratec69 and we can start talking about ways you can help get this underway and finished A.S.A.P as soon as you add me.

If you are interested, please keep reading on, and please do remember that this is in its EARLIEST stages of production, and we are fully planning this out so this map can be PERFECT for competitive gaming, focusing on choke points, scope-off's, and rushing to an extent where you may have to be careful if you think about camping.

I have also started to make one of the first houses which will be on the bottom left yellow squares in relation to the layout, and the screenshots for them are here:

One of the Houses for the latest map:

It does indeed look very basic, but that is without any furniture or proper texturing done to it, no work to the outside (flower beds or tree's etc, and as i said its just ONE of the houses.

I am currently working on one of the spawn buildings, and i should have a screenshot of that uploaded sometime tonight hopefully.

So PLEASE if you are interested in helping or contriubuting your time and effort into this big project, PLEASE add my xfire: duratec69 and we can get talking straight away!

I will be updating this thread most likely everyday or whenever anything new comes out so please bookmark it and check back

Hope to get lot's of support and interest regarding this project!

There are a lot of people making custom maps at the moment.
If you want your map to get out there, you need to make something that stands out and makes your map viable for competition.
Make something unoriginal; make it differ completely from the base maps.
Make sure that you don't have a "weak site"; so for example make sure that there's not somewhere where the bombsite can be seen from somewhere miles away that is impenetrable or invincible.
If you have one weak bombsite, your whole map will be destroyed.
Just some things to think about, but ensure that before you even release a beta that you're completely happy with it and there's nothing overly dominant about the map, because if there is, nobody will like it, and after the first beta is released, you will be ignored.

This.
My basic point was that if something is overpowered, it will be overused, and therefore the team it's used against will hate the map.
Basically, mapping is a gamble.
It takes a while to learn, it takes a lot of time to do, and it could all be for nothing, so just make sure you are confident in what you are going to do and you have great interest in it not only yourself, but from others.
You need the support of the community, and finally this community is taking interest in custom maps.
As long as your map has potential; even if it has some downfalls, it will be welcomed as a beta, but the errors will be expected to be ironed out really quickly (you know how this community is).

Yeah i know. Thats why i want all the suggestions i can get before i release the beta so all the things people want can be added in and then all the little stuff can be fixed straight away after it. That's my point about me asking the community to support me so they get what they want, rather than HOPING to get something they want, if that makes any sense?

It does, it does.
If you want, I know there are a few AusCoD mappers out there; what you COULD do is get a group of 5 - 10 mappers, give them the base of the map that you want to use, and after a couple of weeks, get together and see what everyone's done. Use strong points from everyone's work and then from that, make the map.
I think that would be the easiest way to make a map that appeals to a larger majority of people, although it would mean that you'd have to share credit if that's the kind of thing that you care about.

That's actually a really good idea. Also try to be unique and do some thing no one has done before, not to just stand out or be different but to keep it exciting for players. GL
