Format: 4v4
Rounds: 16
Timer: 3min

Maps:

  • Collapsed Tunnel
  • MOUT McKenna
  • Pipeline
  • Urban Assault
  • Insurgent Camp
  • SF SandStorm

I think it'd be better to only have 1 version of Pipe...imho the original.

With the rest of the maps removed the game compresses to 562 MB, I'll upload it to CG files once everything is finalised.
This version is a lot smoother than 2.4 and I think actually has LESS bugs.

There's a good chance we'll be using Xray.

Can everyone already on the ladder please trim your teams of old members that might have been on from season 1 who aren't going to play this round. You can easily re-add them if they come back.

Anything else?

I'd call the challenge the "AA Unreal SF Classic" ....

2.3 was the 5th SF version (called Firefight), thus the challenge should have a SF theme...

Packed with two new missions: "Urban Assault" and "Woodland Outpost", America's Army: Special Forces ("Firefight" pays tribute to the wonderful world of competition!

SF maps from the original 2.0+ are...

v2.0 (SFAS) SFrecon, SFhospital, SFpipline
v2.0.0a (Sandstorm) SFsandstorm
v2.1.0 (Downrange) SFarctic, SFvillage
v2.2.0/v2.2.1 (Vanguard) SFoasis, SFtiaga
v2.3 (FireStorm) Urban Assault, Woodland Outpost

(yes, I know, 2.3 didn't have any new SF maps, just bug fixes, but hey,.... who cares?)

OIC!

BTW: I lol'd at the rational behind the release of v2.2.1 ...

Quote from from the developers of America's Army:
After accomplishing fifteen (15) game releases in two (2) years, this edition of "Vanguard" focused on some "behind the scene" fixes, upgrades and enhancements. After all, an average of 7 games per year demands a little adjustments and fine-tuning to prepare for the bigger and better things to come!
Oh thank god... AA3 is here...

HQ raid, mountain ambush, woodland outpost

Have all been omitted because a huge advantage can be had with monitor \ colour tweaks that most people don't want to bother with. Basically any map with trees is out.

SF Pipeline is out unless enough ppl request it.
All matches will require demorecs.

I would drop the rounds down to 12 or 14 and go for faster matches/less of a commitment to play. Those maps look good, keep it simple

6-12 minutes difference? Most rounds won't last 3min, Urban&tunnel rounds are usually over in under a minute.
12 rounds could be a match over in 7-8 minutes.. 14 maybe but 16's a happy balance imho, can always change it later if its not popular.
