Hey guys, Propane` bringing you an interview with Scotland's own SpottheOzzie! The content was intended for last weeks ladder standings but is still worth the read.

GameArena Battlefield 3 16's Ladder Interview w/ SpotTheOzzie.



Spot, last night's victory over The Australian Universal Soldiers has put you and your team at the top of the ladder, give us a bit of a briefing of how the game went down?

The match took place at old memory lane with The Strike at Karkand, 'AUS' were going to be a tough team. I had heard they had a good history in Battlefield 2 and were not going to be any kind of pushover. From my perspective in the infantry squad, there was a lot of tussling between capture points at the earlier stage, but it came down to coordination and keeping cool when on the back foot that let us slide in front both times.

So what now? Top of the Ladder, where do you go from here?

The Ladder is still in its premature stage, being top of the ladder with just two wins means absolutely nothing. Honestly, the toughest thing for us now is to stay within the top 3, get to finals and hope for a lucky break down at the brackets.

Who do you think is the team to be beat then, and why?

It's definitely the Karnage Krew. You've got the dream team in 16 format that Australia has to offer, the formulation of iM and the icing on the cake with the Vanguardians basically means they will be untouchable throughout the season. Most teams will play to win through the bleed by holding majority flags, others will play for a stalemate and grind their opponent tickets; Where as the Karnage Krew will be playing for the out cap, and doing that successfully every game I'd imagine.

How do you win against such a team?

Others suggest that they'll lack teamwork because there not under the same umbrella (in terms of a unified organisation), but that's highly optimistic / wishful thinking if you ask me. Personally, I'm just looking forward to being able to scrim against the likes of Vanguardian's rage, Im's Redding, etc. It will be the first time I'll be able to play against the best of the best.

How does the Carnage 8's and 16's differ for you?

There's two facets to this picture, at least for me - which is on an entirely different team level, and on a format level. I made a personal decision some time ago to leave the Carnage.es team, initially I filled in for a scrim as they lacked numbers as the Tank Engineer. Then they asked me again shortly after and eventually I would join the team with the assumed role as "engi-bitch". I didn't mind playing as the tank engi provided there was going to be some leeway where I'd eventually get some gametime on the ground but it was to never happen.

For me, I would come home from work at 7, play as an "engi-bitch" and go to bed. Not the most enjoyable ways to spend your limited afternoon off so it felt more like a choir then anything.

The Carnage 16's on the other hand are a completely different mob of people, which I made connections through playing in the other 8's team. I'm finding the 16's more relaxed and casual then the 8's. The team itself has had some great hospitality and in all my battlefield experience [since 42'] I'm definitely enjoying myself the most here.

Does that mean you've retired from 8's all together?

No, not at all. I prefer the competitive format, I just don't have a team, I've pushed the envelope in several areas but no one's vested any interest. I'm finding it very difficult to gain a foothold in the community as a new player, I don't have the luxery of long-term relationships, prior BF teams and the like. so all-in-all it's been a little frustrating but I'll get there eventually.

Any outstanding Individual performances so far since you joined the 16's?

Yea! We'd be here for a while if I mentioned every single one of them but the one that stood out for me the most was aCtUaL. I squadded with him for the first time and he absolutely blew me away. I've never previously played with the chap so it was a little surprising when photographer of the Clan played as phenomenal as he did.

You have had some quality rounds while in the 16's, what characteristic do you think you have above any other?

I've got the biggest heart. I dig-deep in dire situations and do everything I can possibly do to get the job done. I recognise there are a lot of better players then me but I play to win regardless.

On the note of individual performances there's a little more to the story then what can be seen on paper - you're only as good as the team you play for. Right now the team has been playing some quality battlefield, and it's only through these means have I personally been able to play the way I have been.

also to clarify, karnage krew is just zerging flags and team killing each other for the most part, theres virtually no organisation and sometime ddog likes to steal amrils jet (yes, amrils, what of it?) and fly it into his own ass, because he is a dick
