not sure if this has been posted for discussion here, but john carmack has indicated there probably won't be dedicated servers for id software's new rage title. i'd assume within a year or two, little to no new pc titles will have the feature.

I did not expect this from Carmack. He is a ******* PC Dev legend. Why **** us like this?

To think that i've been talking up iD ever since they got back control of their IP from Activision.
Rage is just a showcase of the new idtech5 engine, but still. John Carmack basically started fps gaming, its amazing that he's stooped this low as well. I guess it shows just how much investor/publishing pressure is on game developers these days.

Surprised they're doing this actually considering the absolute collosus backlash that MW2 is recieving.

that is why we need to befriend the smaller game studios as they must capture "us" the market to sell there games and build there brand, sure they will give us the ass in the end but then we just restart the cycle

rage would have never gone anywhere as a multiplayer pc game.. no loss, whatsoever

but isnt rage like meant to be a more of a sp and more of a rpg game anyway. so its not like we will be missing a great deal.

come play xbox.
