Why not wait a month and get the brand new ivy bridge chips and the boards coming out with them that will be out this quarter? And i would not suggest a gamer PSU. Have you considered crucial m4 64gb ssd its slightly more than the patriot but it has frequent firmware upgrades rather than releasing a new series. And yeah as the other guys have put it bluntly you don't need an i7 hyperthreading and the use of multiple cores are only just coming into game design although it sounds nice you could go for a cheaper processor such as the i5 range and spend more on that GPU the new nvidia gtx 680's are now in stores and in the next coming months they are guaranteed price drops to occur.

I see you're going for a 1155 build and around the end of April Ivy Bridge will be released.

It has a bunch of things that you don't need, but there's not much point in building something with a 2500/2600(k) when this CPU is said to be around the same cost. If you can wait it out, then do so.



The IVB CPU's main talked about upgrades are;

-Lower Die Size - Which will run at a cooler temp, cost less on electricity and have the ability to get more performance.

Also it has native support for USB 3.0 and PCIe 3.0

Higher clock settings and la la la



z77 is the performance motherboard for the 1155 series at the current time.

Filco and Leopold are the keyboards you should be looking at. If you MUST have LED's get the Ducky.

Stick to the Intel 520 SSD (60/120GB)

Silverstone Strider Plus 750w will be more then enough and it's a quality product.

As for the GPU either get a 570 or wait a little bit for the 6xx series to take off. Current 6xx's are only reference cards.

If you're gaming, don't get speakers. Use headphones such as the ATH-AD 700's and pick up a sound card like the ASUS Essence ST/STX. I'd say go for the ST as the 16x slots are becoming more common on motherboards.

any prices for ivy bridge? getting new comp in about 2 months so not sure if i should wait for ivy bridge or go 2500k

Ivy Bridge will be replacing Sandy Bridge so expect similar if not the same prices.

Other way around. STX = PCI-Express whereas ST = PCI

Hey dude,

Don't need the 2600 (k), K means unlocked so can OC higher. Save some money and grab a 2400 or 2500. Also get some slower speed ram. Stick to around 1600 mhz. Chances are you won't have your ram running at 2133 anyway. PSU is way over rated for your current setup. Unless you end up going TRI-SLI id keep it. Just get a good 650-700w PSU. Also what games do you play? You'll need to work out if SLI is going to be a benefit or not? Maybe look at some newer technology like a HD7870 or something? Maybe an additional smaller HDD for backups or something? Can never be too careful these days. Motherboard seems fine for your needs.

Don't go Acer for the LCD, stick to Samsung. Hard gaming surfaces get scratched easily and harder to transport. Hate the mouse but I don't mind Razer or Steelseries. Keyboard is ok but there are many better ones out there. If your *****about sound then I'd go with a better headset.

PCI cards won't work in a PCI-Express slot, they're not compatible. Different voltages, etc. etc.

Its a beast soundcard, I use AKG headphones and I play with the settings never over 15%.
