Contained within this thread is a guide to constructive, rule abiding posting within the CyberGamer Xbox 360 Forums. Please take your time to read through the whole post.
Forum Sections
There are multiple sections for discussion on CG, make sure you post or topic is relevant to the section you are in. Please ensure you read all section sticky's and familiarise yourself with the site before posting. Also note that deliberately and/or repeatedly creating threads in sections other than the appropriate one may result in your account incurring a forum ban.
Each section has a sticky explaining why the section is there, along with some added and specific guidleines for those sections, please ensure you read them
before posting.
Xbox 360 Forum Rules
We want CyberGamer and its forums to be as fun and constructive as possible, as well as be a good place to hang out, discuss gaming, all the most recent eSports matches and make some buddies along the way, but there's a few simple common sense rules to apply.
Constructive Posting
Posts like
"LOL" / "hahaha" will likey be buried.
The same goes for
"GL / CBF Reading" replies.
It's not constructive, nor acceptable and rather pointless.
Any posts such as
"posted before" "old" "posted" without actually linking to an earlier thread will result in a bury and small ban. You must post the link to a thread if you want to say "posted".
Post on topic, and in relation to the thread you're currently viewing. Make sure to read the whole original post (OP), including all replies. This is to avoid re-posting already discussed information and/or avoid de-railing the thread.
If you see someone's off-topic post, you can bury it. CyberGamer features a Bury / Promote system. In the bottom left hand corner of someone's post, you can click the Bury button it will put a negative point against the post.
The post will automatically become community buried if it receives enough negative votes.
If the original post (OP) of a topic is "buried" by enough users, the post will become buried and topic will be automatically community locked. So instead of flaming it, bury it!
Reporting Post's
If there is something inappropriate posted, you can notify moderators by clicking the report button below any post.
To Report a post all you need to do is click on the Report button and enter a reason why you believe that post's breaches forum guidelines. Please only Report a post once. Always enter a reason when reporting a post.
Important: If anyone decides to abuse the feature they will be banned. This system is here to keep the forums clean.
Abuse / Swearing
Don't be abusive to anyone for any reason. This includes but
is not limited to the following;
- Noob / ****** / Gay / Chin / Scrub / Geek / Nerd / Idiot / ****** / Spaz / Sped / cu** / Fu** / Sh**head
This behaviour isn't acceptable, and will more than likely end with your posting rights removed for a set amount of time based on the severity of the abuse, prior bans/actions are at the moderator's discretion.
This site doesn't revolve around you, or anyone else, it's based on a community. As a result, show some respect, and it will be shown back to you. If someone abuses you, don't abuse them back. Contact an online Moderator, and it will be dealt with.
Any topics that contain "Tennis Flaming" (Abusive posts going back and forth) will be moderated and the offenders will be dealt with as necessary.
Swearing is fine as long as you don't use it to abuse someone. When you signed up, a swear/cuss filter was enabled (To disable, go to your user profile).
Don't attempt to evade this. Replacing "A" with "@" etc will see your post buried. If you do this numerous times, expect to be banned.
Disruptive Posting
If you make a post, then think you'd like to add something to this,
don't post a second time.
Along the bottom right hand corner of your post, click "Edit", then add in the text, then "Submit", and your new amended post will be refreshed.
When your in a topic with other members, keep posting on topic. However, if you want to reply to someones specific post, instead of just generally replying, in the bottom right hand corner, click the Quote button, and you will then be able to directly quote the member and post your reply.
When using this system there is a couple of rules though;
- Don't change the original post in any way.
- Don't quote someone, say nothing (or nothing that contributes to the thread e.g. '+1', 'this' etc) then post.
- If people are quoting the same thing, saying nothing, then repeatedly posting . This is a "Quote Train" becomes post boosting and isn't acceptable.
- Quoting a buried post will likely result in your post also being buried.
- Don't quote large blocks of text, multiple images or videos, as it makes the forum difficult to read.
Their is also a private message system if you want to contact someone directly, located below their post or by clicking their profile you will be able to compose a PM, to keep private / personal or off topic discussion away from forums which will be buried. Misuse of this system (for example abusing/harassing another member) may result in your account incurring a ban.
Don't post in a topic more than a month old for no reason, you are prompted to not do this before posting. This is called "Reviving/Bumping" and will result in a warning or ban depending on the length since last post and the post's content. You can tell how old a topic is by looking in the top left hand corner, and in small font the date the topic was created will be shown. Whatever you have to say is generally irrelevant after this time frame.
Before Making a topic
Before you make a new topic, make sure it hasn't been made. This is generally a welcoming for flaming with people adding "posted before", "old news" etc (Note: Doing any of the prior will result in moderation, thumbs down the OP instead.) Put the effort into making a relevant title.
Use The Search Feature
To Search for old topics, in the top right hand corner of CyberGamer type your query into the search box.
It will present all relevant results. This can also be used for finding Posts / Threads / Members / Demos / Teams / Files.
Naming your thread
When naming your thread make sure it relates to what the thread is about.
Do not name it something like 'Lol, Question?, Help, Please read, HAHAHAHA etc' as this causes confusion and often leads to multiple threads being made about the same thing because they don't find anything with the search feature because of misnamed threads.
Forum bans
If you're banned, you are allowed to discuss the ban, but only in private. In most cases this is not required, as you would've been banned for a breach of these forum rules.
If you want an explanation or clarification, private message the staff member it displays as banning you, and discuss it with them. If you are still unhappy with there actions or conduct, Create a
Support Ticket
Don't waste their time or abuse any staff member, this will result in your ban being increased.
Publicly discussing your bans or moderation action, is not allowed. This includes but is not limited to the following;
- Signature images or text displaying your Ban Notice.
- Signature text paying out any staff member.
- Threads discussing/criticising your ban.
- Having other Members make threads discussing/criticising your Ban.
- Topics relating to the conduct and ability of staff member's involved with your ban.
Accounts
Only create one account on CyberGamer. Do not create a second account for the any of the following;
- Evading a current ban.
- Trolling, Abusing, Impersonating people.
- Making an account for a friend who is banned.
- Dont log into anyone's account other than your own.
All of which will result in the duplicate account being deleted and your primary account being issued a ban or extension. We can very easily track if you're using multiple accounts via multiple systems, so don't think you will get away with it.
Help / FAQ / Support / Applications / TOS
If you are having a problem with CyberGamer or have an idea, instead of PM'ing someone or making a topic,
make a Support Ticket (Click Me). This way multiple staff will see it and help you with your problem, idea or query faster. Make sure to set it to the Xbox 360 area, or the relevant section or game.
If you need to contact a staff member,
refer to the staff list (Click Me) and check who is online. Moderators will also have that title on their profile for their posts in for topics they can mod, and their names are featured and appear bold in the forum area.

Other Forums (General / PC / PS3)
CyberGamer has a general forum where people from all 3 platforms can come together and discuss gaming in general. Discussions relating to a specific platform are best kept in each section, and any Xbox vs. PC vs. PS3 will result in a 1 week Global Bans for anyone involved. Going into either of those seperate platform sections and starting trouble will also result in a 1 week Global Ban.
Unacceptable behaviour
Posting any of the following will result in moderation and likely to incur a forum ban for your account;
- Offensive Material - Links to inappropriate sites / pictures.
- Posting for a BANNED friend / user or requesting others to post for you.
- Flaming / Harassment - Abuse / Racism / Xbox v. PC v. PS3 / Clan Disputes

- Post boosting / Spam - Repeatedly posting short or pointless posts (+1, LMAO, : ) etc) / Making pointless topics (MSP wanted / Change GT / Twitter updates) / posting solely to gain CG achievements / creating too many threads in a short period of time.
- Posting in Languages Other Than English
- Abusing the thumbs down system - Only use the thumbs down button if the actual post is off topic, inappropriate ect, do not use it if you do not like the person or doing it for no reason.
