So tonight the powerboard my PC ran off overloaded, after resetting the board I turned my PC back on only to find bios no longer auto-detected one of my hard drives. After much ******* around trying to find possible answers/solutions I ****ed with my bios, still no joy so I unplugged the drive, booted my pc, turned it off, plugged the drive back and and it worked...

not sure what the deal was with this, I thought it died due to the power outage but it could also be my board is ****ed or.. the cables were loose or anything.

question is, has anyone had something similar to this happen? Im just worried this could be a sign of my drive on the verge of failure or possible my mb.

Vague idea it might've reset your CMOS battery which holds the bios info (and hdd bootup info etcetc)

I checked for problems with my bios but all my settings were still the same.

ive had this happen. was the beginning of the end of my old mobo, pretty sure it was to do with cmos. anyway, pretty much this exact thing happened and my pc wouldnt boot half the time. eventually it wouldnt boot at all, got a new(spare) mobo and it worked. but if ure pc is still working fine then be happy in ignorance.

Yeah I figure it's about time anyways... I backed up all the important stuff from the drive just incase it dies... getting a new pc soonish anyways, my current one has lasted me a long time no probs at all so.. its done well.

When you start to smell something burning, then you know it's your mobo.

It kinda is relevant, because its pointless getting a new agp card if there are signs that your mobo might be on the way out. Sorta throwing money at a sinking ship by the looks of it

im not buying a new agp card now however.
