Watchin shout casts of BFBC2 Beta Clan Matches. Thinking maybe to allow servers to force planted charges in Rush. Thoughts Competitors?

Direct from the DICE twitter watching the casts of the games from Sunday night. If you have feed back guys - please make it positive, and we might even be able to twist Talnoy's arm to link this thread to those we have interested in the beta cup!!

Obviously feel free to open your thoughts to other aspects (not just plants on the bomb sites). Also - any posts that show stupidity will be removed - we can see DICE are listening, so help them with competitive play aspects.

While it would make a large difference, there is little point while rush can't be scored properly. Unless on release the game mode allows rounds to be timed to determine a winner otherwise no ones going to bother playing anything but conquest competitively.

It would definitely change the current strategy behind rush mode. Current rush mode competition play is about achieving as little interaction as possible. Dare I say that the beta map could be won with no more than 4 people - tank driver, tank repair, uav pilot, uav C4.

DICE are in a unique position to capture alot of the market they lost to CoD when the original Modern Warfare hit the scene. Should they put sufficient time and effort into competitive options such as forcing planted charges and possibly facilitate spectator options and demo recording, BFBC2 then ticks alot of the requirements for becoming truly competitive.

The popularity of shoutcasting such as the fine handywork of Gamestah is testament to this demand.

can only hope Twisted, seems DICE have put a lot of work in though to make sure Rush is the competitive game mode.

It's a start in the right direction. [sm-love]
Rush mode needs several changes to be "competitive." Conquest will no doubt be, unless there are some serious balancing issues.
That squad v squad v squad thing looks quite fun, although collusion between 2 competing squads against another will be annoying, relegating it to only for pub.

Oh and Arsey, I love Dice so much I'd be willing to let one of their female staff have my baby.

I know that you believe that you understood what you think I said, but I am not sure you realise that what you heard is not what I meant.

it really comes down to how well you can defend or attack, but because the beta map is so one sided, that if you lose as attack, you're bad. because there are so many options to take out a site (rushing in with c4, using the tank to collapse a building or mortar, possibly ramming and using the vehicles as cover)

the explosions are way too powerful, that if ONE person manages to slip past, you lose.

edit: though i do applaud buck wild using our black hawk to gain some air and parachute down into our site to c4. was pretty sweet imo lol

edit again: however it does seem rush mode will not be competitive if they stray this path, and what others are saying conquest will be the competitive mode

for beta, sure i +1 the idea of planting.. on the otherhand... what if the building collapses are you going to be disqualified for that too since its NOT planting?? or plant happens to take enough dmg from CQB's say in the warehouse of docks and your tank or APC happens to finsh it off? disqualified. i put those points forward as there have been times where the deciding moments of a scrim have been from the last few shots of a tank taking out that plant....
Untill you can truely spec a player GL policing it as im sure unless your in the thick of it you will not know how it happened and i know for a fact there will always be some players who will try there luck

Who said anything about rules?

If you read the OP you'd see DICE considering making it so C4 doesn't destroy bomb sites. If you can find other ways of doing that then good on you, there are no current rules regarding bomb sites, and I don't see why a change by DICE would create a need for one...

There's no real skill in hammering the bomb sites with tanks from spawn, or laying charges on UAV's and Quad bikes and racing in. Right now unless you are physically on the bomb site, chances are it's going to be blown up while your inches from it.

Manually laying c4 on site, bringing down the building and arming the objective should be the only ways to take an objective.
