I recently found out that you could 'unprotect' your team on the ladder at any time, to allow teams to challenge you rather than wait the full 48 hour protection period. Never knew this until a couple of weeks ago. Now we all know how frustrating and hard it is to get challenges in. Some teams have been desperately trying to get a challenge in to move into the top 8 for weeks and have been unable to.
Yesterday I found out that Insurgency and Frequency worked together, so that Frequency knew the exact moment INS unprotected themselves, gifting Frequency the challenge a couple of hours before Insurgency would otherwise become unprotected. Kind of annoying for Malice who wanted the opportunity to challenge for first place, but not really that big of a deal.
However it made me wonder, how much of this working together is taking place for teams that are trying to challenge to make it into the top 8, or top 16. It becomes a very big deal if a team misses out on making the final series because one team unprotects themselves, to let their friends challenge them.
Admins should probably look at fixing up this feature on the ladder.
