Last night saw the first real game for the season. Much anticipation and in fact there was a lot of pre game talk. The warm up was good, we had trained well for the last 5 weeks. As the whistle began with many of a great players for on the bench. Our coach wanted to rest them for the beginning quarter as we began our new formation. We decided to play 4 quarters instead of 2 halves... Many of us fit but not match fit.
10 minutes in and our team missing various chances the away team scored first. This was a dint in the confidence. The end of the quarter came and the coach decided to stick with the 4 - 1 - 2- 2- 1 formation. The second quarter began and the goals began to come. Before the end of the quarter it was 1 all.
Finally, we began to gell, the formation again was something we were not used to but we stuck with it and in the third quarter yours truly scored to fantastic goals. It was 4-1 before the away side even knew what was going on, and it seemed a hatrick was on the cards.
The final quarter saw the striker rested to give few of the other players a go. With 2 minutes left I was put back on to see if i could get the hatrick but ended only setting up a goal instead.
Final score: 7-1.
