so i used to connect my laptop wirelessly to my router then run an ethernet cable through to my xbox from my laptop; to save cables bein through thre whole house

anyway
it worked perfectly fine; I had someone over to set it all up for me as i failed miserably at it

but then I couldnt play my xbox for a bit and now Ive come back to try and play live and my LAN connection is saying "Limited or No COnnectivity" and says "This problem occured because the network did not assign a network address to the computer"

^ thats on my computer not xbox
I havent changed a single settin from when it used to work..

anyone know how to fix this??

If people don't understand this, like the first time I read through it.

The laptop isn't connecting to the router via wireless connectivity and since the xbox is running via an Ethernet cable through the laptop she (I think) can't connect to xbox live.

I have no clue about this because I didn't know you could connect your xbox via a computer/laptop which is connected to the internet with a wireless connection. Which pretty much means your laptop as a modem to the Xbox.

Good luck finding help for this though.

All the help I can offer is obviously you need to get the internet back and running on your laptop in order for your Xbox Live to work.

"Limited or No Connectivity" - means that your either having a really really weak signal or you have no connectivity (just stating the obvious)

"This problem occured because the network did not assign a network address to the computer" - Something wrong with the wireless details that have been input into the laptop. So do what I suggested is input all the wireless details in your laptop again (yes I know you haven't changed a thing but do it just in case).

Doesn't work? then

Disconnect the Xbox from your laptop and see if the internet works just to make sure it's not because of the Xbox.

If it's still not working move your ass next to that router and connect the laptop in using an Ethernet cord to check its not the laptops fault.

If it's perfectly fine then check the wireless settings and information on your router and re-enter the wireless settings and information you need to used to connect the laptop to the router again. It should work and if not then chuck a hissy fit and hope the next person that posts can help you.

If the Ethernet connection to your laptop fails then it is something wrong with your modem or internet connect. I suggest you contact your ISP unless someone else on here can help you.

have you tried turning it off and back on again...
lol...
but seriously that would be my first border call..
also not sure if she has the same config as you grommz; she is running internet connection sharing through her laptop... hopefully your not cos this is ghey and causes lag. as the daisy chain isn't very efective.
couple questions:
what operating system?
is your wireless working on your laptop?
if yes you need to set up internet connection sharing and bridge your nic to your internet: your pc will act like a router and your setup will be back up and running, it's a pretty simple proccess and xp has a qizrd that pretty much does the whole thing. add me to msn if your still having trouble. should be in my profile...
G-O!

yer i get that...

if you have 2 different phones in the one house only one will be able to work with the net going..

i used to hate it on PC cos the punkbuster (anti cheat program to stop hackers mods ect)
used to think i was still in the server even though i wud lagg out and not be able to play again for bout 25mins... it was really bad especially wen i was in a gamearena final.

lucky for me this doesnt happen in XBOX i jus go connection interupted for bout a round or i jus have to reconnect to the server : S
