Hey all,

I figured it's worth sorting out now rather than in 3/4 weeks time.

I'm aware of the finals format (1v4 & 2v3 with winners playing off in the GF) however.

1. How will the finals maps be worked out?

> ie: will it be best of 3 maps for all finals? if so, how will they be selected?

(or will teams be forced to rely on luck and hope to play on their best maps?)

If best of 3 is to be chosen, I propose each team put forward their best 3 preferred maps to play on, with both teams '1st' selection being chosen. and if required the 3rd map can be decided by admins?

In extreme cases ( if teams are unhappy with admins selecting maps ) a dice can be rolled, with the corresponding numbers being tied to specific maps?

Consider me crazy, but I can see map selectiong becoming an issue further down the track if not sorted out now.

thoughts?

well usually on CG formats, finals play out as follows

team 1 chooses a map
team 2 chooses a map
admin selects 5 maps that havnt been chosen above

once connected to the server, there is a knife off, winner chooses who's map is played first, (eg team one won the knife and decided to play team 2's map first) map is changed, team 2 decides which side to play first. map played, then its changed to team 1's map, with team 1 choosing side.

if in the even it goes to a third map the 5 maps are laid out to the 2 teams, team 1 choose a map that they dont want to play then team 2 chooses a map they dont want to play and continues till there is only 1 map left,

EG.
crash
crossfire
strike
vacant
district

team one doesnt want to play crash so they knock out crash

crash
crossfire
strike
vacant
district

team two doesnt want to play vacant so they knock out vacant

crash
crossfire
strike
vacant
district

team 1 doesnt want to play district so they knock out district

crash
crossfire
strike
vacant
district

then team 2 doesnt want to play crossfire so they knock out crossfire

crash
crossfire
strike
vacant
district

leaving strike to be played as the third map.

That sounds good tbh, and if its worked in the past then its tried & trusted.

Only thing now is for all the game centers to approve, as this really is the best of way of doing things

Once game centers approve, the man himself 'SCSI' will need to OK it as well.

GUF GBU vote +1 for this method.

I actually like the fixed first map model as it lends itself more to getting the Grand Final played over three maps.

So the admin team picks the fairest most balanced map in the game (strike, crash, etc). The team that loses, then gets to chose the map to be played next - thus giving them the best chance at forcing it to a 3rd map decider. If it is forced to a 3rd map, the team that won the first map choses it. This is simply a reversal of the system above.

Regardless, both systems are commonly used in competition and have been determined to be fair
