There has been some speculation, a small amount of information leaked and a brief outline highlighted on bashandslash.com but here is the official information regarding Promod for Call of Duty WaW.

Maker of the successful Call of Duty 4 Promod, Ryan "Raf1" Palmer returns with his latest version for Call of Duty WaW version.

While a large part of the community doesn't see any future in the latest instalment and the majority have incorrectly written the game off before its official release, however by introducing Promod:WaW will hopefully inject some interest back into the competitive community.

The aim of Promod’s development is to prove that this game can be pushed far beyond its original form.

Promod will continue where it left off with Call of Duty 4, but go much further this time, in reducing what many quote as the ‘random’ elements of the game, increasing the skill gap between different teams and making the game much more enjoyable to play for the long term.

The mod will be based around the competitive community, and will largely not be customisable. Instead, it is aimed at fixing, pruning and enhancing specific elements of the game, to create a game that engages players and ensures stability. Essentially the driving force behind the mod is to push far beyond the boundaries of any previous Promod releases.

The mod no longer uses a PAM base, and is developed from scratch, using specific code tailored to the requirements of the mod.

The mod will increase visibility, frames-per-second and bullet registration.

An innovative quick and easy class picking system has replaced the normal menu system.

In terms of timescales here’s some information for you all:

Private BETA testing has begun with a selected set of invited teams and players. This will commence promptly and the feedback we receive take onboard. Our aim then is to release a Public BETA within a maximum of two 2 weeks of the games official launch (November 14th). The reason for this is to ensure any form of release is safe to use within competition and will reduce the need for future changes and by definition releases.

We are aware of other modifications that are in the process of being created or indeed have been released in the US, but we truly believe each have different markets and beliefs on the way the game should be played and perceived. One of the main reason for us removing Sprint and Cookable nades, along with heavily modifying recoil.

Here are the official changes currently made and implemented:

Current supported gametypes : Search & Destroy

Grenade cooking has been removed
Fog has been removed from all maps
Recoil has been increased on all guns, similar but perhaps more than that of CoD1
Firing rate caps have been introduced to all single shot guns
Team based weapons have been added
Pistols are now given depending on your class and team
The bomb is now invisible when planting/defusing
Client side map scripting removed
Player names can now be changed during a round
Single bomb has been implemented [TODROP]
Dvar Enforcer created
Unified Ruleset loader created
Pistols now have 1.2x movement speed
Sprint has been removed
Connection settings are now forced
FPS has been increased
The snipers have had a fix applied
Fire and effects have been removed from all maps
Music has been removed
Auto-aim and Lunge have been removed on the knife
Leader voices have been removed
Sound occlusion/attenuation removed
Sound realdelay removed
Dogs have been removed
UAV has been removed
Artillery has been removed
Perks have been removed
Off hand items have been removed
Missions have been removed
Ready up mode has been added [TODO: Half time, team switch]
Strat time has been added
Client bobbing has been removed
The XP bar has been removed
Maps now have full colour saturation
Dynamic lights and shadows are now forced off
3D Objective/World icons have been removed
You now make a noise when trying to plant the bomb
Hip spread has been increased plenty for all automatic weapons
There is now a strat time counter
Fixed SD spawning and respawns
Spectator permissions have been limited


We really hope all of the community supports the development and is open-minded to the changes suggested and made. Any constructive feedback during the Public BETA will be happily discussed and taken onboard.

didnt play cod1 tho so i dont know what to expect from the recoil perspective.

IF the recoils EXACTLY or very close to Cod1, will change the way the guns work and how you use them a ton.

In fact id wager a guess, if this goes ahead, a ton of people will quit because it literally may be too alien to them.

Only thing atm that still seems shitty is the maps. And assuming these changes go through, could potentially be a green light to bring back some of the old streamlined maps to suit the oldschool gameplay.

Look forward to the public beta. Need it on some public servers plox ^_^

outfowack, please read.. speed increase on pistols thus u move pretty much the same as when sprinting but u HAVE to have ur pistol out, if it is still to slow they will just increase the all round speed on all guns thus for example.. 1.5x fast on 1st + 1.2x on 2nd.. so even faster than sprinting.
