Hello all,

I present to you a problem: what is the easiest, cheapest way to output the video from a Wii console to an LCD monitor normally used with a computer?

Now I'm not asking this question without doing some prior research, but solutions I've found to this problem seem fleeting, expensive and/or exotic. I'm thinking so far options include:

  • buy new LCD with composite input
  • buy new tv tuner card with composite input
  • buy component Wii output cable + new LCD with component input
  • buy a composite to DVI/VGA video signal converter
  • other?

If anyone has had success doing this with consoles, advice or suggestions would be appreciated.

buy a composite to DVI/VGA video signal converter seems the cheapest solution but i read somewhere it was a different type of signal or something like that. what i did for my xbox 360 was to buy a proper cable from microsoft that out putted it in vga. maybe you could get a aftermarket one for wii.

Same. You'd imagine they would have something like that for the wii. Cable for the 360 was about $80. Don't know what your budget is but thats about the easiest way to do it.
