except his time as two face was much too short. the character is a much larger role in the comics (i forget if he ever died and came back to life - happens a fair bit in comics/ people who die often didnt 'die', etc),
Was Two-face "created" by The Joker in the comics? Like TDK. I kinda hated that.

*spoilers*

Did anyone else think the line where Batman asks Lucius "Will the suit stand up to a dog?", and Lucius responds "It'll stop a cat", was a hint at Catwoman being in the next film?

Philip Seymour Hoffman won it.

I agree with what some people have said here - as much as I love Christian Bale, his stupid Batman voice has just got to go. And I don't think that Ledger's performance was only good 'relative' to the other actors. Everyone acted well (Bale's voice being the only low point), but Ledger took it to a whole new level. He was super-insane-crazy good. Literally.

Clowns with knives... Always something to fear...

With Batman's voice it's obviously put in there so people (in the movie) don't recognize Bruce Wayne's voice which you would have already figured out... There isn't much of another way to cover up the characters normal voice. Would be worse if he were to speak like a eunuch. Dunno how it worked with spiderman tho :o

yeah i know tal, nolans world is loosely based on the darker versions of the comics ('the dark knight returns' series mainly i believe), but mostly retooled to fit his own style.

powerslave the main story is maroni crime boss throws acid onto dents face whilest in trial (maroni was the crime boss in TDK movie), but some versions of the batman comics change it a bit

and yeah, as rau said, hoffman won it for his role in Capote that year

would've been much better if the movie was 30 minutes shorter, ending at what would be "the begging of two face" continuing into the 3rd installment, paired up with the riddler again. i mean sure, if you remake movies change things a little, but don't change the story completely... many a remake has been bashed by critics for adding their own interpretation of the whole story rather than just a few changes. take rob zombie's take on halloween as a prime example.

vote 1 jim carrey to return and play the riddler once again for the 3rd installment to this strange yet amazing depiction of batman.

They shouldn't have killed off Dent so fast! They built such a good storyline behind him! Is it confirmed he will not be in future movies like how he was brought back to life in other Batman series?

*contains spoilers*

I agree with Powerslave's criticisms in that

a) Two-face's burnt half looked ridiculous (almost broke the sense of realism that the movie did so well at maintaining)
b) Bale's deep batman husk got a bit out of hand (I only really noticed it in the last scene however)

In saying that I loved the movie. Overall: awesome, especially loved the length; so sick of 1.5 hour movies that try to rush through everything so the kids with short attention spans don't get bored.

There's no shortage of similar opinions when I state that I loved Ledger's portrayal but I also liked the fact that it didn't overshadow the rest of the movie (so not a historical performance, but I say give him the Oscar for it, it's deserved).

The script was the stand-out for me, the social experiments and the hero-that-loses-out were some highlights. It was probably the most well written movie to come out of all these comic adaptations (imo obviously).

Basically, I'd give it 9 - 9.5/10. And to be honest, I would have liked to see that last boat experiment finish with a bang.

dents burnt half of his face was very close to that of the comics, i thought it worked well and looked appropriately gruesome. have to agree with what most have already said, while the acting was amazing, the top notch script helped the actors build their characters well.

i have high hopes for the Thor and Captain America movies (separate movies) that should be out next year, then the avengers after! ;D

shame about the justice league film getting shelved, my mate was a high chance of playing the green lantern
