CyberGamer Call of Duty 4 Mega-Resource Guide

An information repository for gamers, new and old to the game, in seek of information!

So you have found yourself viewing upon the footsteps of the “soon-to-be” largest Game Resource Page you can find on CyberGamer, in search for something relating to Call of Duty 4, to expand your knowledge.

This is my little project page, where I aim to create a central location of information for those who are curious about things relating to the game, and at the same time will effectively reduce the high quantity of request threads that are created, continuously spamming up the forums daily.

If I have missed something, or you have a suggestion, feel free to PM me, with your query!

Competitive Call of Duty 4 on CyberGamer

The game that was highly anticipated to be a flop before release, due to the scenic move from the World War II days of Call of Duty 1 & 2, to the uncharted waters of Modern Warfare combat, managed to work its way through large obstacles along the way and successfully prove that it is one of the largest competitive games, to-date on the PC Platform.

Initially announced on the 12th of April 2007, followed by its release date of 5th of November 2007, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare was globally released to stores, instantaneously sporting a competitive gaming base of enormous size, solidifying the competitive scene for the game on PC. An active community has enabled the game to grow and evolve, competitively lasting longer than any other title in its series, making it one of the best competitive First Person Shooter game to-date alongside Counter Strike 1.6/Source and Quake Live.

Since release in 2007, CyberGamer has continuously supported the competitive Australasian CoD4 scene, hosting leagues and tournaments over the years for the community. CyberGamer is currently the largest and is the main home of E-Sports in Australia, recently expanding its platforms to XBOX & Playstation, followed by the mass expansion to the European scene of PC CoD4, announced mid July 2011.

Today, CyberGamer currently hosts three seasonal Search and Destroy skill-based competitive gaming leagues, home for the top 32 teams in Australia, a ladder for hundreds of other teams to compete in a less serious environment, as well as a Headquarters ladder for teams seeking a bit of fun in another gametype. Alongside this, companies such as; Sound Blaster, Kingston Technology and MSi Australia, have provided and supported the leagues in the form of extra prizes and competitions for teams alongside the seasons.

It has been debated in the CG community over the last 12 months whether this game will die off or not, but with a fresh administration team on the block, alongside the previous administration team, it has ultimately been proven that Call of Duty 4 is going to stick around for a while yet and will remain to be the largest competitive Call of Duty game play in Australia.
