[Dont Choke]
don’t Choke started early 2004 as a Melbourne LAN team for Halo 2, consisting of Wreck, Ranch, Draagon and Kinzee; and later Fluenza, Demigod, Hebrewmonk, Stygmah.
dC then branched out to the newly emerging competitive COD4 arena where we experienced great success, travelling around Australia to compete in local events and tournaments for both COD4 and Halo; including taking out first place in the $10K Halo LAN event in NSW during 2005.
Originall, dC was an objective based team, and only began its crowning jewel S&D mid-way through the CyberGamer Open ladder in Season 2.
Pre-2007, don’t Choke had amassed a number of local tourney 1st place finishing’s, and numerous top 3 placements.
During 2007, don’t Choke disbanded due to the majority of its members in their final year of high-school and on their way to university – this wasn’t the end of don’t Choke, merely the intermission for a greater team to emerge.
The few players who were left active, without a team joined dM – Digital Minds. A highly competitive team sponsored by Intel and Razer. dM competed in two Cyber Gamer Open ladder finals and grand finals, taking 2nd, then 1st place respectively, under the careful leadership of Ranch.
At the end of 2007, with the return of the original dC members, dM cut their deadweight and strengthened their line-up with the original members of dC, founding what would become known as the most dominant COD5 team ever to compete on CyberGamer – Game Over! was born.
Game Over! consisted of ROLL, Sivil, Blazeforce, Boogz, Hebrewmonk and Ranch, who subsequently went on two win two consecutive COD5 WAW seasons (undefeated 1st season) and the P2P season.
With the emergence of COD MW2, the GO! team identity was retired, and don’t Choke returned – taking 1st position in the first and third season ladders, however, with sponsorship ripe in the competing top teams, many members gave to temptation, leaving dC without the strength to carry on.
PS3 History:
RaS (Royal Australian Soldiers) was a long time veteran of the S&D tournaments, and year after year held the reputation for the top HCS&D team – until the emergence of MW2.
The team was divided, members who had ‘skill’ and members who had ‘brains’ went tooth and nail in arguing for position, rank and tactics in every game played. The team was literally too big to contain, with names such as Fatal Shadow, Royal Tomo, Royal Outkast, Whitie7, Royal Slayer, Royal Stunner, Royal Monkey, airheadz and Kaneo Insaneo all agreeing to disagree. The team grew aggressive and proud, denying defeat when it came as a fluke, a mishap that would not repeat. But this was the beginning of the end. Since the rise of MW2 and the lack of recoil on any weapon, the competition became fierce, skill was less of a factor as opposed to a game plan or structure – the COD4 way of playing was dead.
Mid 2010, RaS, after over 4 years of gaming came to an end. The team which was largely loathed by the community was ironically, farewelled respectfully.
As the once dominant team had fallen, Royal Monkey and Fatal Shadow teamed up with Ranch from the xbox to form a new team, a team which would one day cross platforms and be a dominant force wherever it tread. don't Choke was reborn.
The new team consisted of Ranch, Monkey, Mewz, Noodle, Tom, Navsta and Hippo.
Through sheer determination the team rose to the finals with a motley team, half of whom had never played a competitive match in their lives. Eager to prove their worth, dC strategised day-in, day-out. dC was knocked out in the quarter finals of the MW2 ladder, however, seeing as the team made its rise in 4 weeks – we were very proud of our accomplishment.
dC has been quietly rebuilding its team, pulling members of old into the new battleground – dC will once again make its stand for the Pay to Play challenge in March of 2011.
