With the season about to go live i took a few minutes (quite a few) to go hunt down some teams and ask them 3 questions about the season, here are what the guys had to say about their team and the season in general.
GameKILLER - Sequential Gaming - WD Black Invite Division 1
Q: Post MSI Championships which SQL gaming did come away victorious the source community has been relatively idle, what are your thoughts about the teams in your division now the community is back into full swing? Do you feel there is a good depth in the teams this season and how well does it compare to previous seasons?
A: I think the community is back into full swing, with all the new comps coming up from Cybergamer and Thermaltake things have never been better. I think the teams picked this season couldnt have been done any better. This season we will see new teams looking to prove themselves on the big stage. I think this season will be more exciting to watch as the challenge for the number one spot will be a lot harder to take out.
Q: New lineups new additions to the invite league, of all the teams in your division who do you think will be a quiet achiever this season and why?
A: I think the dark horse will be Team Exile 5 NZ alot of people at the start of the season have criticized the selection of this team but i think that they will pove everyone wrong with there hard work and determination, and they have alot of very talented players in their line-up.
Q: With the closure of the CEVO season with no announced resumption coming, do you feel the source community still has as many options on the table? Are you excited for the future of CSS in Australia or do you see it slowly declining from here on in?
A: With the closing of one door it only opens another, we have seen the sublimecomp come to light and also the Thermaltake league, with news of the thermaltake comp expanding id say Auz CSS is slowly going up. As always Cybergamer is still pumping out comp after comp and i for one cannot wait till the next big reinstallment of CybergamerMSI LAN/ONLINE comp to come out.
Perspari - Qlimax - WD Black Invite Division 2
Q: Q: New to the Qlimax name and sitting in a nice spot in the WD Black Division2 league how does your team feel they will fare in the upcoming season?
A: Withe the addition of mech as our caller i believe we shall...
WD CSS Leagues - Pre Season Interviews
WD CSS Leagues Season 3 goes live!
Welcome to the Western Digital CounterStrike Source Leagues
Well as we saw another season roll by its time to saddle up again as the source community returns to the groups for another action packed season. With some slight changes to both the arrangement of our divisions and the prize pools its looking to be a stellar new season with great competition to look forward to. Of course we return to the known battlefields of old but with a new source engine with its new flavour coded on our beloved concept which is CounterStrike Source.
With the stakes as high as ever which teams will emerge triumphant as the cream of the crop battle it out in the invite league? Which of our semi pros are set to step it up a gear and fight to claim the right to go pro? And of course who of our rising stars will emerge with the determination passion and commitment to call themselves semi pros? Only time will tell but its going to be a good season for all comers big and small.
With a new source update and some idle teams just shaking themselves back into form and with other events in the scene now is not the time for change. We will be running a stock standard league season with the core map rotation which is: Nuke Tuscan Inferno D2 and Train.
Additionally with our season teams who dont have a scrim server to train on if you have 1 premium member on your team you can book scrim servers which are CG match servers with EAC enabled. The more premium members you have the more bookings per week you can make.
Teams accepted into the WD Black Invite League are considered to be the cream of the crop in Australian CounterStrike Source. Registration fees for these teams once accepted is $100 per team payable before season start for all teams accepted. The division will be split into division one and division two, these are not groups but skill based divisions for the invite league.
Teams accepted into the WD Blue main league are considered emerging teams battling it out to gain the respect and the right to be selected into the Invite League. Registration fees for these teams once accepted is $75 per team payable before season start for all teams accepted. This league will be broken into two groups in the same skill division. The top 4 teams from each group will advance to the finals.

CGo Ladder Cleanout
CGo Ladder Cleanout
The Counter-Strike: Source Open ladder is going to be 'cleaned out' of all the inactive teams who have been collecting dust at the bottom of the ladder. If your team falls under any of the following then it will be removed:
*Teams who have less than 5 players (for longer than two weeks)
*Teams who never accept challenges (more than 4 matches in a row)
This will remove a lot of dead weight from the ladder and make way for new teams. If your team was removed and you would like to join the Open ladder again then I will move your team back (only if you are going to stay active).

CS:S Staff Applications
CS:S Staff Applications
CyberGamer is now recruiting Counter-Strike: Source ladder assistants and anti-cheat panel staff members. With season three of our invite leagues approaching and an open ladder that never sleeps, we are in need of some extra helping hands.
All of the staff here at CyberGamer are volunteers. They give up their time to help out the gaming community by running ladders and competitions to promote competitive gaming. If you are not willing to spare some free time and put in some effort then please don't bother applying. These jobs aren't for everyone, but they can be very rewarding for some people.
Ladder Assistant Applications
Ladder assistants help the admins run the CS:S ladders and competitions run by CyberGamer. Their general roles and duties include:
*Refereeing matches
*Handling match disputes
*Providing support to players/teams
*Support the admins
*Attend staff meetings
*Be active
Ladder assistants will receive access to the CS:S staff forums as well as receive admin powers in match servers and on the CyberGamer website. All ladder assistants will undergo a 'training period' where they will be taught how to carry out their duties properly and professionally. If we are satisfied with your effort and the results, then you will become an official CS:S ladder assistant.
Anti-Cheat Panel Applications
Anti-Cheat Panel members are responsible for keeping our CS:S ladders and competitions free from cheaters. Their general roles and duties include:
*Reviewing demos from matches
*Handling SourceBans submissions
*Catching cheaters in our community
*Regularly check SourceBans
*Be active
Anti-Cheat Panel staff members will receive access to the CS:S staff forums as well as receive admin powers on our SourceBans site. We are looking for A-C reviewers with previous experience in demo reviewing and using SourceBans. Training someone from scratch can be hard and time consuming as it takes lots of personal experience (that can't be taught) to become a successful A-C reviewer.

New section for the CS:S forums
New section for the CS:S forums
There has been a new addition to the Counter-Strike: Source forums. Some of you may have noticed it already, but for those who haven't, we have added a results section:
All teams are encouraged to post their upcoming matches as well as match results in this section.
TIP: Instead of typing your match details, you can use a handy built-in feature on the match page. If you click on 'Start Forum Thread' (as seen below) on your match page...
...it will automatically fill out most of your match details for you in the results section. All you have to do is click Post (as seen below). The only thing it doesn't add automatically is the Source TV IP for your match, which can be found on your match page.
Enjoy guys. I hope to see this section start filling up. :)
Counter Strike: Source BETA Configs
Another thread about Counter Strike: Source BETA and its FPS and Configuration files (.cfg)s
[sub]by Brenton 'Mz' Smith.[/sub]
Where to begin?
*Where are my configuration files?
*What are my configuration files?
*What does all this stuff mean! (*Confused*)
*Everything explained... as much as I can.
*Finally some extra things that might help you out!
Just before I continue I have posted each of the larger section into SPOILERS to reduce the viewing size of this post!
Where are my configuration files?
All configuration files can be located for example:
C:programfilessteamsteamapps**Username**Counter Strike Source BETAcstrike_betacfg
What are configuration files?
Autoexec.cfg // This file will load automatically upon each fresh game start.
Config.cfg // This file contains specific information in regards to personal preferences.
All of your in-game configurations are based upon these two files in particular. However the definitions I have provided are very straight forward they can be slightly different and cross-over occasionally (without any harm of course).
On to the question at hand, what are configuration files? In a nutshell these two main configuration files do relatively similar jobs but I will try to expand upon this a little further than the brief descriptions I provided earlier.
Autoexec.cfg: The most important of the two in regards to in-game performance the correct setup of this file can be make or break for some low end users who experience unneccessary FPS Lag.
*Generally speaking (15 to 30 FPS) is considered bareable. (30 to 60 FPS) Decent and (100+ FPS) an advantage.
Please note: Regardless of your opinion towards How many frames the human eye can see. There are many factors that come into play which range from lighting, to retinal fusion points and image artifacts which are created at lower frame rates. These factors impact everyone differently and really depend on how the images are being displayed.
(I will speak about how to boost your frames up a little shortly)
Config.cfg: Plain and simple this file contains your keyboard binds and mouse binds, some more broad sighted graphical options which are available via the (Advanced Video) menu. This file only needs to contain these default variables and sho...
