MW2 S1 CG Finals

Finals time is upon us for Modern Warfare 2's first season on CyberGamer, with our roster lock coming into effect last Sunday. This is real beginning for MW2's competitive run in the AU, and looks to be a very promising one that all Staff are looking forward to make happen for you guys. These finals are leading up to many things, for our S&D teams, securing a spot in our CGi, and the 4v4 teams are working towards the ACL.

There will be a professional [top 8 teams], and intermediate [9-16 teams] finals series for most CyberGamer MW2 ladders.

Ladders Involved
The top 16 teams, from the following ladders will be locked at midnight on Sunday 28th February.

~ 4 v 4 CGo Ladder
~ Search and Destroy Ladder
~ Team Deathmatch Ladder

~ Objective Ladder

Any challenges made before midnight on Sunday 28th February will be played out. All challenges must be completed within 7 days of the ladder lock date. Topics tracking each ladder will be posted after their finals teams are decided.

Roster's
Any players not rostered on or before the roster lock date (Sunday 21st February) will be ineligible to play finals. If for what ever reason any team does not have the required number of players to compete in the finals they will be moved out of the top 16.

ACL Online Round One - Master Thread

Some BIG, BIG NEWS to be announced shortly is a FORMAL PARTNERSHIP between ACL and CyberGamer. This will potentially see all online ACL tournaments being run by CG admins in the future. All ACL rulesets will be confirmed shortly so you can practise and will form the basis of the 2010 COD season.

While time is an issue I have announced this ahead of formal Cybergamer ties in order to ensure a smooth registration period. Full news on the CG - ACL partnership will evolve shortly.

WHAT
Being the first ever ACL event, seeding will be provided by CyberGamer's current 4 v 4 Ladder:

In future you will see a separation between Open and Pro divisions. However, this being the first event, there is a slightly different structure to the rest of the circuit.

Pool Play: Every team will compete in pool play, but will be grouped as per their ranking on the CyberGamer 4 v 4 Ladder. At the conclusion of pool play, teams will be seeded for the Double Bracket Elimination phase of the tournament.

Double Bracket Elimination: The top 16 teams will enter a double elimination bracket. If we get 30+ teams compete, we will extend this to a 24 team bracket.

WHEN
Pool Play: Saturday 20th March
Starts at 1:00pm AEDT
NSW: VIC: 1:00pm
QLD: 12:00pm
SA: 12:30pm
WA: 10:00am
NZ: 3:00pm

Double Bracket Elimination: Sunday 21st March
Same times as above

STRUCTURE
Pool Play - Best of 3 Series

Each Pool will have 6 teams. This is dependent on numbers and could change.
Each series MUST play ALL 3 games.

There is only one round of Pool Play. This means you will only play teams inside your pool before this stage of the competition ends. Upon completion of Pool Play you will either be knocked out or progress to the next stage. The reason you are playing all 3 games in a series is to better determine win/loss ratios. Your team may be required to play a tiebreaker game to determine seed for the next stage.

Pro Double Elimination - Best of 5 Series

Each team does NOT need to play all 5 games if a result occurs after 3 games.
Lose one series to enter the Losers Bracket.
Lose another series and you will enter Placement Rounds.
Placement Rounds will then determine Overall Points for your placing in the top 16.
Further information on Placement Rounds will be made available in the 'Online Rules' to be released shortly.

RULES & SETTINGS
To be released very shortly. Check back on...

Results for People's Choice Awards CoD: MW2 2010

Cheers to all who put the effort in and sent PM's and replies to the topic, its a great indicator of how many contributing members we have. We got votes from 90+ people with over 850 individual nominations to count, making it our biggest awards yet.

Like always votes were spread amongst many nominees, but there were some clear winners in all categories. These results further prove how much the CG polls are skewed to show incorrect results.

However, I wont go on too much and get right into the results you are waiting for.

Best Team:
Our biggest win in the awards history, Insurgency:
took it with a massive 58% of the vote. Made up from topic CoD 4 players that have continued to stay near the top for the last few seasons, and step it up for MW2, also has an awesome team biography. The closest challenger was Malice:
(14%) who have managed to stay near the top for many years now. It's also fitting that these teams fill our top spots on the S&D ladder also.

Most Underrated Team:
FreQuency.:
(19%) ranked number 3 on the S&D ladder have surprised a few people, most of their players have been around for a while, but aren't huge names, but have pulled together to now make a name for them selves.

Excel:
(12%) also received lots of nominations

Worst Team:
There were only a few nominees here, Antix:
(32%) took it by many votes. See awards below for why their here, but it has a bit to do with their captain. If they wanna improve their standing in the community, they will need to stay off the forums, relax a little, and earn respect by beating top teams which they can with their talented line up.

Anxiety:
(18%) was the only other team to receive a more than a handful of votes. Plagued by multiple player bans, repeat disputes and trouble on live has brought them here, hopefully a new name in Game Theory, means a fresh start.

Best Player:
Coming straight out of World at War, cheese:
(15%) has taken this award out, building his way up from the most underrated from last years World at War Awards. Coming up behind him was Fluey:
